Elders

Jason and his wife Jen have four boys and live in the Whittier neighborhood. Jason has a Masters degree in Theology and has worked as a pastor since 1996. He enjoys the mountains, leadership, reading, and being with his family. His burdens include helping the poor, developing leadership, and world missions. He has lived in Denver long enough to remember when Elitch’s was on 38th avenue, the Nuggets played at McNichols, and the cash register building was brand new. He serves on the board of the Black American West Museum and is the Executive Director of the Friends of Cole Foundation.
Josh and his wife, Katie, have three boys and live in the Lakewood neighborhood. Josh has a bachelor’s degree in Youth Ministry and has worked as a full-time Realtor while serving in the local church for the past two years. Josh enjoys Theology, mountain biking, coffee and his special joy, hanging out with his wife, Katie, and his three sons: Jason, Braedon, and Caedmon. Josh is looking forward to the birth of his daughter, Jadyn Karis, sometime in March. With these, he looks to an altogether new journey: Eldership and leadership. Josh says, “The clearest call from God that I have ever sensed came when we packed up and moved to Denver from Minneapolis. There were a lot of levels on which that move didn’t make the slightest amount of sense, but it was undeniable that God wanted us in Denver. Although there were times we really didn’t know why, now we know. God didn’t just call us to Denver; He called us to Providence:3 years before Providence even started.”

Juan L. Pena was born on December 11, 1974 in Bogota, Colombia, the oldest child of four born to Pastor Alvaro and Carol Peña. Juan and his wife, Courtney, live in the Clayton neighborhood in Denver. Juan has his bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, and attended seminary at Baptist Bible Seminary in Clarks Summit, PA where he received his Master of Divinity. Juan brings from Boston a passion for the Red Sox, for reading, and for spending time with the boys, Caleb, Micah, and Ezra and with Courtney. Today, Juan represents his grandfather and family coming full circle, returning to America from Colombia to lead as an elder in a church planted in the heart of Denver’s mission field.
